O&M
MACE won the O&M Contract for Abu Dhabi Island back in 2002, and has been directly responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the entire sewerage system since then. It is testament to MACE and in particular our O&M project team that ADSSC and SPC before them, have been sufficiently satisfied with our performance such that they extended our contract by 5 yrs.
The project includes responsibility for the transportation of sewage from each and every property on the island regardless of whether or not they are located on or in public, private or government properties. The sewage must be transferred to the relevant treatment works or to the mainland for onward transmission to the main Abu Dhabi Wastewater treatment works at Mafraq. We use a range of facilities to ensure the system runs smoothly including tankers for septic tanks, gravity sewer networks (sewerage) and pumped systems (force mains).
We ensure that all sewers are maintained in a condition that minimizes blockages or surging, and where problems occur our 24hr emergency response service mobilizes a team within minutes to address problems. We ensure all Pumping Stations on the island are properly maintained and available 24/7, to tackle all flows arriving at the pumping station. At many of the pumping stations we are maintaining the Odour Control process plant to minimize risks and public nuisance. In addition to installed pumping capacity we have a wide range of over-pumping equipment to provide alternative systems of transfer where suitable, which can be deployed at a moment's notice.
